Conversing with the visitor in an article post

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Conversation online doesn’t need to take place in just a forum or a chatroom. In fact, the article itself acts as a base for conversing with the visitors of the website. This can work even better as depending on the articles written, the conversation can get quite interesting.

An article about games technology should not just limit to the current technology. Try to create an article that talks about future gaming technology such as the Playstation 4 for instance. Talk about the features that the writer hopes to be available in the new PS4.

In addition to that, it is okay to stray from what the website is all about. Every once in a while, write a port about something random so that visitors can just relax and enjoy reading about something else instead of the usual posts.

Make sure that the comments are easy to post and refrain from using complicated login methods. Try to have a spam guard that works well instead. It will filter the good comments from the bad ones while still retaining the ability of getting comments quickly. Welcome the visitor to comment by saying something like “So, what do you think?” or something that is close to it.

Running a real website takes a lot more than just the creation of a website. In fact, in most cases, that may be the easy part. Doing the harder part such as getting the right keywords or doing site optimization can take a lot of work and if it isn’t done properly, there are chances that the site may not rank well in the search engine until the problem is rectified.

Most webmasters are in darkness when it comes to the ranking of their site over a long period of time. Chances are, they might not even track how their site is doing in various search engines. One way of tackling this problem is by using Rank Checker Tool by SEOMoz.

Knowing whether the keywords are being targeted correctly is an important aspect to the on-site optimization of a page. The Term Target tool by SEOMoz works wonders as it ranks from A to E as to how well the page is being optimized.

Detailed information about visitors in a site

Ever wish that you could know which part of the website that visitors focus the most? Analytics such as Woopra or Google Analytics can tell a lot as to how many visits a website or a page receives but it doesn’t tell the hotspot of the website.

A solution lies on a website named Crazy Egg. What it does is that it visualizes the visitors of the website in a way that it highlights the places that interest the visitors the most. There are two ways of viewing this information: through a confetti layout or a heatmap layout.

There are four packages in total for the potential customers. The Basic package costs a mere $9/month which would be quite the same as a good hosting plan. The Standard version on the other hand costs $10 extra. Plus and Pro packages cost $49 and $99 per month respectively.

While all of these packages have advanced reporting available, only the Plus and Pro package have the hourly reporting feature turned on. This isn’t much of a necessity for a small website because it may not have a lot of visitors on an hourly basis. It is rather good for a big website.

The other difference lies in the number of visits that can be tracked by the system in a month and the number of visits it can track simultaneously. The higher the package, the higher the number for these features.
